Mandatory electronic reporting in Norwegian waters from 1st October 2010

The Directorate of Fisheries in Norway has decided that all Norwegian fishing vessels longer than 21 meter MUST use an electronic logbook and start daily electronic reporting when fishing in Norwegian waters from 1st October 2010. The same applies to vessels longer than 15 meter from 1st January 2011. From the same date, vessels from EU fishing in Norwegian waters are required to send electronic reports. 

 

More than 300 eCatch solutions are sold to Norwegian Fishing vessels, of which more than 250 already have started the reporting on a voluntary basis. The ERS messages are transfered from the vessels to Dualog Gateway Services by means of Dualog´s secure duplex file transfer protocol. Web Services (HTTPS/SOAP) is used for the message transport between Dualog Gateway Services and the Directorate of Fisheries.

 

Mandatory electronic reporting in EU waters from 12th July for Norwegian vessels

The Directorate of Fisheries in Norway has decided that all Norwegian fishing vessels MUST use an electronic logbook and perform daily electronic catch reporting when fishing in EU waters. A similar regulation is expected for EU vessels that intend to fish in Norwegian waters though the deadline is not yet decided. The vessels must use eCatch version 3.0 in order to comply with this regulation.

eCatch Approved in UK

eCatch 3.0 - Electronic Logbook Software System is the first e-Log system successfully passed by the UK Fisheries Authorities' approval process run on their behalf by the NCC Group. AST is the UK distributor for Dualog's software. For UK fishing vessels that operate in the Norwegian zone, an e-Log system is required from July 1st 2010.

 

eCatch 3.0 is the first e-Log system to be approved by the Norwegian Fisheries Authorites as well. 

 

More than 250 vessels have so far chosen eCatch

The eCatch sale has boosted in Norway due to the upcoming requirement. The Norwegian deadline is October 1st 2010. For Norwegian fishing vessels operating in the EU/UK Zone, an e-Log sysem is required from July 1st 2010.

eCatch no 150 to Coastal Fishing Vessel "Skulbaren"

Skipper Tommy Hansen operates Skulbaren along the Norwegian Coast for Herring, Cod, Haddock, Saithe, Capelin and Mackerel. eCatch transfers e-logbook messages via ICE and Iridium.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  eCatch to several Deep Sea Vessels

hargun.jpgPurse seiners "Hargun", "Hundvåkøy", "Frantsen Jr", "Roaldsen", "Liafjell", "Vendla" and more have recently installed eCatch.

 

Auto longliners "Gayser Senior", "Nesbak" and "Fiskenes" have installed eCatch recently.

 

The same applies to the deep sea trawlers "Hopen", "Olympic Prawn" and "Nordøytrål".

Different communication systems are utilized for transfer of e-logbook messages such as: VSAT, ICE (CMDA 2000), GSM, GPRS, Inmarsat C, Iridium and even Digital VHF Data.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  eCatch No 100 to Coastal Purse Seiner "Vestbas"

Dualog Connection Suite is used for data transfer via ICE and Iridium.

 

"Vestbas" is a multi purpose coastal fishing vessel that catches demersal species as well as pelagic species like Herring and Mackerel.

fskjer_efangstbil.jpg"Fiskeskjer" is a 67 meter Purse Seiner / Pelagic Trawler. She is now fishing for Capelin in the Barents Sea. The other three vessels in the company; factory trawlers "Havstrand" and "Havbryn" and her sister vessel Strand Sr already use eCatch.

eCatch to Krill Trawler "Juvel"

juvel.jpegKrill Trawler "Juvel" - fishing Antarctic Krill has installed eCatch. The system is for recording of catch information and electronic reporting while fishing in the CMLLAR area in the South.

The giant vessel will be fishing Antarctic Krill which will be utilized 100% in the factory plant on board the vessel. eCatch is used for logging and electronic reporting to CCMLR. ERS messages are transfered via VSAT and Inmarsat C (backup).

eCatch to Auto Longliners "Kamaro", "Urvaag", "Torita 1", "NyArgo,"Fjellmøy", "Sjøvær"," Keltic", "Nesbakk" ......

kamaro.jpgA number of auto longliners have installed eCatch this autumn. ERS messages generated by eCatch are transfered via different communication systems like VSAT, Inmarsat C, Iridium and Mini-M. All vessels are fishing cod, haddock, tusk, ling and other species in the Northern Atlantic waters.

Late autumn, the longliners are normally fishing far north and partly in the Svalbard protection zone where frequent reporting to the Fisheries Authorities is mandatory.

 

 

 

 

 

eCatch to Vessel Company "Roaldnes"

langenes.jpg"Langenes", "Stornes" and "Roaldnes" - all freezer trawlers operating in the North Sea and the Barents Sea have installed eCatch. eCatch Management is installed at the company office.


The vessels are using Dualog Communicator for secure transfer of ERS messages via VSAT, Inmarsat and Iridium systems.

 

 

 

 

 

  eCatch and Dualog Connection Suite to Factory Trawler "Granit IV"

granitiv.jpgGranit IV, one of the largest factory trawlers in Norway has installed eCatch electronic logbook as well as the new Dualog Connection Suite communication software. VSAT and Iridium are chosen as carriers for ERS messages from/to Granit IV. 

 

The software is installed on a central Windows Server enabling a professional management of theonboard software systems. The server is also available for remote login from Dualog Support.  

 

eCatch to Dutch Prawn Trawlers and Beam Trawlers

 eCatch demonstrated at Fishing 2009 in Glasgow

glasgow2009_200.jpgDualogs's UK Partner AST (Applied Satellite Technology) demonstrated eCatch on it's stand at the Fishing 2009 Exhibition in Glasgow 14th - 16th May 2009. They also arranged a seminar where eCatch was demonstrated and different effects of the system were discussed by representatives for the Fishermen, Fisheries Authorities and Coast Guard.

 eCatch installed on the Spanish Trawler "Arosa Doce"

Electronic recording and reporting mandatory in the EU and Norway from 1.1.2010

The Directorate of Fisheries has proposed to introduce mandatory electronic recording and reporting for all vessels longer than 21 meters from 1. January 2010, the same date as the EU-regulation 1077/2008 applies. Vessels between 15 and 21 meters are required to install electronic logbook / reporting tools latest 1. January 2011. 

Dualog's eCatch system complies with EU requirements as well as Norwegian requirements.


With more than 50 deep sea fishing vessels operating eCatch on a commercial daily basis, we collect substantial experience. Therefore, we are well prepared to meet the upcoming demand for systems taking care of electronic recording and reporting (ERS-solutions).

 

eCatch has been developed in close cooperation with active skippers and vessel owners with focus on benefits for the skipper and the vessel owner.

eCatch installed on Factory Trawlers "Havbris" and "Havstrand"

A factory trawler produces high quality fillet products of cod, haddock, saithe and other species. The Norwegian factory trawlers have to send reports to the Directorate of Fisheries very frequently. Many different electronic catch

activity reports are integrated in eCatch. This makes reporting easy, accurate and efficient.

eCatch to Autoliner Company "Ervik Havfiske"

The company is located near Stadt, a famous stormy place at the West Coast of Norway. eCatch is installed on nine autoline vessels and eCatch Company Management is installed at the company office. Ervik Havfiske is associated with Domstein, a seafood company that has received MSC and KRAV environmental certification.

trawlers and 13 processing plants. The trawler company, Ytre Rolløya AS , is responsible for the six trawlers belonging to the company. eCatch is installed on the trawlers, and the company module, eCatch Management is installed at the company premises in the city of Harstad.

Aker Seafoods AS is listed on Oslo Stock Exchange, and posesses 14 trawlers and 6 processing plants in Norway. eCatch is developed in close co-operation with Aker Seafoods skippers and fleet managers. The system is installed on all the trawlers and at the fleet management office. Most trawlers also send catch reports to the Directorate of Fisheries in Bergen every day. eCatch Management is installed at the office receiving different messages from the trawlers. The most frequent messages are the daily catch and production.
