eCatch is an integrated electronic logbook and reporting system (ERS) which so far is approved by the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries and the UK Fisheries Authorities. More than 500 fishing vessels are using eCatch per date.
eCatch can generate electronic messages containing all data elements and codes required by the Fisheries Authorities according to EC Regulation No 1077/2008 and the Norwegian Regulation J-195-2010.
The supported message formats are XML (EU/UK XSD) and NAF (North Atlantic Format) while supported protocols for delivering messages to the Fisheries Authorites are SMTP/POP3 and Web Services (HTTPS/SOAP).
The UK Fisheries Authorties receives the XML-messages as encrypted e-mail attachments encrypted by means of PGP (Pretty Good Privacy).
The Norwegian Fisheries Authorities receives the NAF-messages as encrypted files via Web Services (HTTPS/SOAP) encrypted by means of Wibu-Key.
